What is physical therapy?

Physical therapy is a treatment for individuals who have health problems that make movement and everyday tasks harder to do. Physical therapy can be done before or after a surgery, for long term health problems, or acute injuries. The goal of this type of treatment is to improve your ability to perform daily tasks and activities.

Our clinic was thought up and designed to keep you and your physical therapist safe. We looked at common issues with our patients in outpatient clinics and worked to find the best solution for them all – telemedicine! HealthStream PT has therapists available to treat in English, Mandarin Chinese, or Spanish.

My English is not very good. Can you assist in another language?

We have translators available for Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

How do I make an appointment?

Contact our front office, Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm, at (858)836-1155. Our front office will be happy to help you schedule an appointment and let you know of any steps you may need to take before your appointment. Once the appointment is made, you will be sent a confirmation email with a link to join your video call at your appointment time.

What should I expect for my first visit?

On your first visit, a licensed physical therapist will do an initial evaluation. This is will include a thorough assessment of your overall posture, range of motion, strength, flexibility, and mobility. The therapist will then discuss with you their findings and develop a treatment plan to help you achieve the goals you have set together to improve your function.

What should I wear to physical therapy?

We recommend that you wear something comfortable for your physical therapy session. A lot of patient’s choose to wear workout clothes. It is helpful to wear something that can expose the body part in question such as your knee or shoulder.

How do I join the video call?

A few minutes before your appointment time, click on the link provided to you in the email, text message, or join from our website. Enter your first and last name when prompted, and click “Check In.” Make sure you give access to your microphone and camera on your device. You will be placed in a virtual waiting room. Your therapist will begin the session when they are ready and you will receive a notification. You can use a phone, tablet, or computer to join your virtual session. It is beneficial to have a strong internet connection.
